The Governance and Contribution Structure for Vitalia 2024 serves as a living document outlining the principles and mechanisms through which the Vitalia community is organized, operated, and evolves. These principles are not set in stone but should be viewed as our working hypothesis, subject to test and modification as we gather more data and insights.
The foundational thoughts on governance were brought forth by our Organizers. The principles are aimed at creating a balanced, decentralized environment to empower individual contributors and multiple roles within the community.
At its core, the ultimate telos of the Vitalia structure is to serve the residents of Vitalia 2024, facilitating their entrepreneurial and creative endeavors through various means such as pitch competitions, co-founder matching, and providing legal help and advice.
If the structure is not fulfilling this crucial objective, it necessitates evolution and adjustment. We are not wedded to any particular governance design choice but are committed to the principle of serving the residents.
Speaking of evolution, we believe transparency and open channels for feedback are essential. A lightweight process will be used to track contributions, and Organizers will facilitate the distribution of tasks through TBD software (could be as lightweight as Notion).

The people who are, at least for now, the default point people to make sure that Vitalia 2024 is a success (e.g. Laurence Ion, Niklas Anziger) Responsible for setting up the initial governance and operational structure, eventually stepping back as the community becomes more self-sustaining.
Serve as the backbone or brain trust for the Leads and are future leaders of Vitalia. They have social trust and a history of meaningful contributions. Curators can also become Topica Area Coordinators (e.g., crypto economy, AI) or Camp Leads. Initially, curators will be selected by the organizing team. As the community matures, this selection process will transition to a group decision-making mechanism among existing curators.
Camp leads are a narrowly defined role: be the key support person for the camp (e.g. figure out logistics, education in values, public goods e.g. grocery shopping & car pooling)
A Topic Area Coordinator leads a specific domain within Vitalia, like AI or crypto or DeSci, and organize events related to that domain that aligns with community goals. They serve as a bridge between Organizers and Residents.
A person who takes on only one key function, e.g. the "DC for cold plunges" or the "DC for building the sauna”. Any resident can step up to be a DC.
Also known as the "Builders" of Vitalia, residents contribute to the community's growth and can earn the right to become curators or DCs through their efforts.
Someone who isn’t dedicated to a specific key function, but is open to helping with any number of things.
